Strange Tales 聊斋
Our expertise was enlisted in the captivating immersive theatrical production of Strange Tales 聊斋, where we served as video designers and projection specialists. Tasked with breathing life into the strange and fantastical narratives on stage, our role was to craft mesmerising projections that transported audiences into a world of wonder.
A collaboration between the renowned immersive theatre company Grid Iron and the Traverse Theatre, Strange Tales 聊斋 demanded innovation and creativity at every turn. Employing motion capture technology and 3D character design, we crafted a monstrous creation for the exhilarating finale scene of Magical Arts.
By capturing real-life movement data from a martial arts fight scene and transforming it into a digital character, we seamlessly integrated the monster into the production. Projection-mapping onto scrim material in Traverse 1, we created the illusion of the creature magically materialising and vanishing across the stage, allowing actor Pauline Lockart to engage with it from every angle.
