Message from the Skies: Shorelines

Written by Kathleen Jamie

In 2020, Message from the Skies took on the maritime theme of Shorelines, marking Scotland's Year of Coasts and Waters.

Through innovative projection mapping techniques, this cross-artform collaboration brought to life the words of five esteemed writers alongside Scotland's top designers and musicians, illuminating landmarks across Edinburgh. Our collaboration with writer Kathleen Jamie and illustrator Thomas Moulson culminated in a spectacular storytelling projection at Union Canal in Edinburgh.

Kathleen Jamie's evocative poem, Seascape with WEC, captured her fascination with new wave energy converters observed during testing on the Orkney Islands. Read it in full here.
