Heart of the Hive

Taking over a derelict space in Edinburgh as part of Hidden Door Festival, we designed and produced an immersive experience to shed light on the concerning decline of the honey bee population. We collaborated with PYRUS, a botanical studio and Victorian walled flower garden in East Lothian, mixing our creative mediums to build a unique and beautiful aesthetic.

Together, we curated an immersive living environment brimming with flora, foliage, light and sound, emulating the vibrant life within a bustling hive. As a poignant symbol of the honey bee's decline, the foliage gradually withered and died over the course of the week.

Using a fusion of film, animation, and projection mapping techniques, we transformed the unique honeycomb structures, embedded in a sculptural wall of flowers and foliage, into a multi-sensory spectacle, blurring the lines between reality and illusion.
